I absolutely love the themesong for Ghetto Justice which is called 沒時間後悔 aka Méi shíjiān hòuhuǐ aka No time for regrets. I wrote about that in my Ghetto Justice Episodic Thoughts under Themesong but since not many go there, I am reposting the lyrics here. Powerful lyrics, very angry and determined man point of view and I have yet to find the TV themesong full version with MC Jin rapping in Cantonese but I found plenty of download links for Hanjin Tan's full version in Mandarin which is the lyrics that I am reposting below. Humbly I am translating the lyrics from the 1st person point of view, sometimes literally, sometimes the meaning but I have 2 or 3 lines that I am not sure so I wrote Pending. And since I tend to explain myself more, you will see Note meaning me explaining. Fantastic song! Anyway this is still W.I.P!
TV version with MC Jin rapping (unavailable)
I wrote this in an email to a friend;
Because original full song is I think Hanjin's song and TVB used it as a chorus for MC Jin's rap for the GJ themesong. Original song is really fantastic. Lyrics from what I can understand is also positive; like someone singing and fighting his fate and gives his finger to the heaven. Quite an attitude.
So I think my translation (based on and expanding on K-TVB's translation will be from the 1st person perspective, a very determined and angry person singing this song. All I can say Hanjin, I love you for this song!!
Full version is pure Mandarin. TV version is rap in cantonese, some part mandarin.
Note : I believe this is Hanjin's full song, minus the rap. Pending translation.
Why must I feel inferior
Note : Zibei is also low self esteem
gànma yào hòuhuǐ
Why should I feel regrets
Jiùsuàn zài duō cuòzhé wǒ dū bù rèn shībài
Even in the face of failure, I will never admit defeat
Wǒ bù huì liúlèi
I will not cry
méi shíjiān hòuhuǐ
I have no time for regrets
Dìshàng zài duō xiějī wǒ yě de zhàn qǐlái
Even if the ground is splattered with blood I can still stand back up again
Bàituō bùshì sān suì xiǎohái
Oh please, I am not a kid anymore
Note : The actual wording is "I beg you, not a 3 year old child anymore" but when someone says like this, it just means telling the other person to stop treating him like a child, he's not a child anymore
tài duō rén xiǎng kàn wǒ shòuhài
Too many people want to see me fail
Bāng wǒ kǒukǒushēngshēng de shuō
All the promises made by you
Note : The actual wording is "Help me, you kept saying" but I am having trouble on whether the Help Me is really pleading for help or just like the expression of Baituo, like oh please, god help me, etc. It can be a pleading or it can be sarcasm. Since can't see comma, and all so I am not sure. I read the whole word to mean as I am translating since it connects to the next line so that it makes sense.
dàotóulái jiéguǒ háishì yīchǎngkōng
In the end are just empty promises
Shuí shuō wǒ bùnéng zìjǐ lái
Who says I can't make it on my own
Note : Can also mean who says I can't do it myself but I think the writer meant someone achieving something on their own effort.
chénggōng yòng shuāng shǒu jiàn qǐlái
Success is built by my own hands
hǎo de jīhuì bù duō
Good opportunities are hard to come by
zhè shì wǒ de show yòu gàn ma bù zuò
This is my show, why shouldn't I do it
Repeat A to AA
bié fán wǒ
Stop disturbing me
I am not here
zài duō de diànhuà dōu bù kāi
I will not take any calls even if you keep calling
Note : Literal meaning is however much phone calls I won't open, but I interprete it as I wrote
Zài zuò zhuānjí dàn diànnǎo kāi
yǒu shénme hǎo shuō yòng diànyóu shuō
Whatever you wanna say, just email me
Note : One word could have summarised this sentence that is Oh shut up and just email me! but it also means what I wrote which is the literal sense.
Jiéguǒ háishì de zìjǐ lái
In the end we can only depend on ourselves
Note : I use we here because of the next sentence and the literal meaning is "In the end we ended up doing it ourselves" but I interprete it as depending on ourselves.
héhuǒ bǎ gōngsī jiàn qǐlái
Work together to rebuild the company
Note : Could also be "Cooperate to bring up the company again"
Jīngguò zhème duō de wúnài
After going thru so much of hopelesness
Note : Wunai can also be frustration but I feel hopelesness is more to the point because wunai is more than just being frustrated
yěshì shíhou gāi jǐ zìjǐ diǎn ài
Sometimes I should love myself a little more
Note : Or I suppose some credit also can but I think the meaning is to say sometimes one must love oneself little more or rather literally "Sometimes (some moment) should give oneself some love"
Repeat A to AA, TWICE
I found the translated/pinyin lyrics here at k-tvb.net and excellent translation but I suppose will differ from what I will eventually post above.
Note : This is the MC Jin rap with Hanjin's chorus version
